At Hesketh Ecology we operate a small yet
extremely professional and dedicated team of fully licenced and widely experienced ecologists.
Scoping
Surveys and Reports. From the initial conception of a planning proposal we are able to offer advice on potential
ecological issues. We can advise on potential constraints to a proposal and recommend solutions and / or alternatives before
a proposal is submitted for planning permission.
Protected Species Surveys, Reports, Mitigation
Planning and Implementation. We are able to offer a complete service from initial site visit through the report writing
and submission process to European Protected Species (EPS) licence application, mitigation planning and implementation.
All of our ecologists are fully trained and licenced and have substantial experience of the planning system. The protected
species surveys we offer include;
Badger Barn owl Bat Breeding Birds Otter Reptile Great crested newt Red squirrel
Educational talks
and walks. We offer fun, interactive and educational talks suitable for all ages and can lead Wildlife
Walks for your group, club or school. These can often be organised in your area and designed to suit your needs. Your
walk can be a more general Wildlife Walk or focus on species such as 'Bugs and Beetles', 'Birds',
'Bats', 'Badgers' or any other species at your request. Please contact us for more details.
Subcontracting Service to Other Consultancies. We are able to provide fully licenced bat workers
for those big jobs for which you may need an extra pair of hands.

Our Principle Ecologists;
Victoria Hesketh
(BSc) Hons. holds a degree in Wildlife Conservation and has worked extensivedly in the field of protected species
surveys. Victoria specialises in bats and has worked with these protected species throughout Britain and abroad. Victoria
has substantial experience with the planning system and of overcoming potential ecological constraints to a development.
Sam Griffin (BSc). holds a degree in Wildlife Conservation and has worked extensivedly in the field
of protected species surveys but also in providing advise on environmental legislation and the planning process. Sam has substantial
experience in reptile and amphibian surveys but is widely experienced in all areas.

Our Cumbrian business was founded in 2007. As a family run business we are able to offer a uniquely
personal service, at first contact you will be communicating directly with our ecologists. Operating from our
office in Cumbria we are able to offer a high level of expertise in the ecology of the county.
We believe that by focusing on Cumbria we can offer an enhanced service. We can be on site anywhere in the
county at very short notice. Having been based in Cumbria for many years, we know the ecology and the geography
of the county well; meaning we know what to expect! In short, we believe that by concentrating our business within Cumbria
we can keep the cost down, produce exceptional reports and therefore offer you the client, fantastic value
for money.
